Millennials
I think that one film that could define the
generation of the Millennials would be the movie "The Social
Network." This movie basically talked about how Facebook came about and
how this was the new way for people to connect or communicate with one another.
This defines the Millennials because there is a lot more technology now and
they are very into technology and what is has to offer. It defines the
Millennials because they are very social people and Facebook is another way for
them to keep in touch with people and talk to them. It also defines the
Millennials because they have less respect for people and Facebook is a way for
them to show that because a lot of drama and fights erupt through Facebook. I
usually get on Facebook when I get home and I don't like seeing all the fights
and just plain arguments that are on it because no one needs to know about
other people and their problems. The better way to take care of that would be
in person but because Facebook is the new thing and people put their problems on it
for other people to read. Facebook also causes people to get divorced or end
their dating relationship because of information that is put on Facebook and
they forget that it will get back to the significant other in their life. I
think that "The Social Network" is a great movie to define the
generation of the Millennials because of how popular technology and social
media is today.

I agree with your idea that the story behind the movie "The Social Network" defines the millennial general. I think the creation of Facebook, in general, is a big event that would define the millennial generation as it has provided a new and different way for people all over the world to connect with each other. Although this can be a good thing, it can also be a not-so-good thing as, like you said, some people use it for bullying or drama and often become obsessed with its contents.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you on how Social Media has defined the Millennial's, Facebook did change how people connect and communicate. The movie Social Network explaining how it came about was a perspective we all needed to see an learn from. The advancement of technology as you state liberated this generation in being able to communicate and share their feelings and ideas. You nailed it with how it lacks a personal touch, with people not being face to face they are more likely to say something they otherwise would not of. It is easier to be disrespectful if they are not doing it to your face. The airing of dirty laundry, we don't need to know everything, somethings are private.
ReplyDeletePeople break up on facebook, it is impersonal, and the bullying needs to stop. You are correct in person is best. "The Social Network" made us look at how technology has changed our lives
I agree with you that it was a perspective that we all needed to see and learn from because it allowed us to see what Facebook was really all about. I would have to say that the bullying that happens on Facebook and other social media needs to stop because it's not right and no one should have to go through that. I also think that this movie gave people a reality check about what really goes on with Facebook and how it has changed our lives in both a good and a bad way.
DeleteI agree with your idea that Facebook is a major part of the MIllennials. I also connected them with technology. I can really see how technology has changed our lives, for the best and worse.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Facebook does bring all of the Millennials together. And not only Facebook but Twitter is also has a lot of useless fighting, and a lot of drama. Both bring friends together but they also can hurt us too
